Workshop: The book as a sculpture

On April 2016, we were invited to join 3rd year Sculpture and Sculpture Environmental Art students at Glasgow School of Art. For it, we organised a workshop in which students could gained some basic book-binding skills but most important of all, some inspiration! We shared some of the past and current My Bookcase projects, being the common thread of thought: the book as a sculpture. Together with the students, we reflected on the architecture of the book and the reader as its user, focusing on the role of a book in an exhibition space.

The day finished with a visit to the Case Room, where students where able to meet artist and researcher Edwin Pickstone.

With the assistance of Doris Panholzer.
