An interview to : Ian Balch

Part of A donation to the Mackintosh Library project, 2014

Hero: A publication lost in GSA ’14 Fire and today back to Mackintosh Library’s bookcases thanks to My Bookcase and Ian Balch.

The re-opening of St. Mary’s Cathedral after extensive renovation was the perfect opportunity for artist Ian Balch to research, as a curator, the uncertainty of placing art work in a religious space. An exhibition about the Cathedral: the brick, the mortar and the use of the space. During this interview Ian Balch talks about memory in terms of looking back from the future, as John Calcutt performed during the opening night. Today both experiences are kept in the simple publication folded four times that today has arrived to our hands.
