Toni Catany (Llucmajor, Mallorca, 1942 – Barcelona, 2013) is one of the referents of contemporary photography. His classic themes are combined with still life, portraits, nudes or landscapes; all captured with a very unique sensibility and aesthetics.
This catalogue-book was published on the occasion of a temporal exhibition at La Pedrera (Barcelona) in 2016. It offers an insight into Catany’s practice from a perspective that combines his chronologies and geographies: from his native Mediterranean to the Caribbean or India, highlighting his latest work up to 2013. A suggestive journey across the most intimate Catany, allowing the reader to meet his most private spaces and objects as well as his obsessions and concerns that are part of his photographs and that have helped construct his singular imaginary.
