Event: A rehearsal in language

The House That Heals The Soul
CCA Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow

– What if to read was a rehearsal?

Through shared speech and thinking we collectively activated a series of readings that reflected on the role of the reader in today’s society. Exploring the act of reading through reading. As a group we took-in words by thinkers such as Alain Badiou and Hannah Arendt, reading in public, in collaboration and through solitary registers.

“What I propose, therefore, is very simple: it is nothing more than to think what we are doing.” (1)

-What resonates within us after the act of reading?

A first act allowed the group to consider the consequences of reading, becoming active interlocutors we untangled the written words through our individual experience. We drew upon the spirit of “internal processes made public, open to debate and disagreement. But not judgement.”(2).
